SOO good! I came here 2x for breakfast. They have really good porridge! Would def recommend. If you're in the area, might as well get some soy milk down the street in the center of the china town area. The service was quick because the food is already pre made and they just have to scoop it and serve it to you. I was expecting them to run out of the porridge because their breakfast starts at 6 AM, but being the lazy person I am I didn't get there until 10 AM. The seating area is a little small, but there is also a lot to explore afterwards like there's Central Market that you can walk to.
I decided I had to visit Hon Kee and their famous porridge. It's conveniently located on Petaling Street, so you can stop by while you're shopping. I was sad to find out that none of their famous porridges were vegetarian, but the woman at the stall try kindly pointed me to their Chu Cheong Fun, which was vegetarian. We ordered it and the woman took us around the corner to where they had extra seating. Not more than six minutes later a man came towards me bearing big, bright yellow plate of noodles. He put it down in front of me and there it was. The noodles were perfect soft and there were two different sauces on them. One was their "special sauce" which was both sweet and salty, the other was a hot sauce. It was delicious, cheap and a perfect meal to have on a hot day. I'm sorry I can't say much about the porridge, but the people I saw eating t seemed to be very happy, very happy indeed.
Yes, there is porridge. It's authentic, there are sides, like back choi and chicken part of rice chicken. Worth stopping over when exploring shopping isles of Chinatown. Forgettable otherwise.
